From roof tiler in 1985 to a business of his own in 2000
Paul started out as a roof tiler in 1985. That meant new builds, re-roofs and plenty of cold mornings — learning how a roof actually goes together rather than just how it looks when it's finished.
He then moved into fitting uPVC fascias and soffits for a roofing company, and that's where the roofline side of the trade stuck. Fascia boards, soffits, guttering and downpipes are the parts of a house that quietly hold everything together, and getting them right is the difference between a dry house and a damp one.
In 2000 he took the step and started his own business. More than twenty-five years on, Paul Gasson Roofline LTD is still deliberately small. Paul quotes the work, Paul is usually on the roof, and the people working alongside him are people he's worked with for years.
We cover the full range now — fascias and soffits, guttering, downpipes, cladding, new roofs in slate, tile, flat, fibreglass and metal sheeting, and the repairs that keep existing roofs going. What hasn't changed is the way we work: quality workmanship, reliability, a competitive price and a proper service from start to finish.
“Most of our work comes from people who've had us before, or from a neighbour who's seen the job we did next door. That's the only advertising that really matters when you're a small firm.”
Paul Gasson
What we stand for
Four things we won't compromise on
Quality workmanship
Boards set straight, joints lined up, gutters falling the right way. The bits you can't see matter as much as the ones you can.
Reliability
We turn up when we say we will, and if something changes you hear it from us rather than wondering where we've got to.
Competitive pricing
A clear price before we start, based on the actual job. No inflated quotes and no surprise additions at the end.
Good service, start to finish
From the first phone call to the last bit of rubbish going in the van, you deal with the same small team.
