What we collect
When you use the enquiry form
Your name, phone number and a description of the job are required. You can also add an email address, a town or postcode and the service it relates to. We also record which page of the site you sent the enquiry from, so we know what you were reading.
When you call, text, WhatsApp or email us instead
We receive whatever you choose to send — usually your name and number, sometimes your address and photographs of the work.
Technical records
Like most websites, the servers that deliver these pages keep ordinary technical logs, such as the IP address a request came from, the browser used and the page requested. These are held by our hosting provider for security and reliability. We do not use them to build a profile of you.
What we do not collect
- There is no account, sign-in or customer portal on this site.
- We do not take payments through the website, so no card or bank details are collected here.
- There are no analytics, advertising or social media tracking scripts on this site, and no tracking pixels.
- There is no mailing list. The enquiry form has no newsletter tick box and we do not add enquirers to any marketing list.
How we use it and why
We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiry and answer your questions;
- arrange a visit, look at the job and prepare a quote;
- carry out the work, order the right materials and keep you posted;
- keep records of quotes, jobs and payments;
- deal with any problem, complaint, insurance claim or guarantee issue afterwards;
- keep this website secure and stop the enquiry form being misused.
The lawful basis we rely on depends on what we are doing:
- Legitimate interests — replying to an enquiry you have sent us before any contract exists, and keeping the site secure. We only use your details in the way you would expect when you ask a local firm about a job.
- Contract — where you go ahead, to carry out and manage the work.
- Legal obligation — keeping accounting and tax records.
- Consent — for anything optional, such as featuring photographs of your property on this website. You can withdraw that consent at any time and we will take the photographs down.
We do not send marketing emails or texts, and we do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling about you.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work — kept only while we are dealing with them, then deleted when we review our records, normally well within a year of our last contact.
- Quotes, job records and accounts — six years after the work. HMRC expects business records to be kept that long, and we may need them for guarantees, insurance or a legal claim.
- Photographs of your property — while we have your permission. If you withdraw it, we remove them from the site.
- Server logs — kept for a short period by our hosting provider.
If you ask us to delete your details sooner, we will, unless we have to keep something for tax, insurance or legal reasons. We will tell you if that applies.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your details and we do not pass them to other companies for their own marketing. We share them only where it is needed:
- Base44 — the platform that hosts this website. It stores enquiries in our database and sends us the email that tells us an enquiry has arrived.
- Google — our email provider. Enquiries reach us in a Gmail inbox and our replies are sent from it.
- Our accountant — for job and payment records.
- Our insurer or professional adviser — if a claim or dispute arises.
- A specialist subcontractor — only if a job needs a trade we do not cover, and we will ask you first.
- The police, a court, a regulator or another public body — where the law requires it.
Everyone who handles information for us is expected to keep it secure and to use it only for the purpose we have set.
Where your information is held
Enquiries are held in our website platform's database and in our email account. Some of the providers we use are based outside the UK, or may process information outside it. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place for UK data — either UK adequacy regulations or the UK's international data transfer agreement. If you would like to know which safeguard applies to a particular transfer, ask us and we will explain.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- be told what we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- have information deleted where there is no good reason for us to keep it;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive the information you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where consent is what we rely on.
These rights are not absolute — we may need to keep some records for tax or legal reasons, and we will explain if that applies. Asking is free, we will reply within one month, and we may ask you to confirm your identity first.
You do not have to give us your details, but if you do not, we cannot quote for or carry out the work.
How we keep it secure
Access to the enquiry database and inbox is limited to Paul and protected by passwords. Pages are served over an encrypted connection. No website or email system can be completely secure, so we cannot promise that information will never be accessed without permission — but if something happens that puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office as the law requires.
Cookies and other technologies
This site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. The small amount of information stored in your browser is there so the pages load and work properly. Our Cookie Policy explains exactly what is used.
Children
This website is for adults arranging work on their home or business. We do not knowingly collect information about children. If you think we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if what we do changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change materially affects you, we will make it clear on the site.
Complaints
If something is wrong with how we have handled your information, tell us first — ask for Paul on 07958 348028 or email pgasson70@gmail.com. Most things are sorted out that way.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator:
- Website: ico.org.uk
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
- Post: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF
Our entry on the ICO register of fee payers: To be confirmed
